Ahhh, the desert. A landscape we love, but hates us back.
We packed a Prius and left from Los Angeles to head to the Mesquite Springs camping grounds (and by head to thecampsite, what I really mean is we woke up at a cool 5 a.m.). On the drive there, we noticed highway sides of wildflowers, lots of warning sign billboards in po-dunk towns: “SYPHILIS- A Silent Killer” – almost like it’s on the lurk or something…
Arriving into the Valley, you assume there will be nothingness, but you will check in and pay for your park pass at one of many kiosks near gas stations. It’s only $25 for 7 days, plus what you’re paying for staying at a campsite (ours was $14 night).
